Coats for Kids Event!

Because of Bookspring’s partnership with the Coats for Kids Community Fair event, this holiday season was filled with the joy of books!

Literati, the official book sponsor for the event, donated four enormous boxes filled to the brim with books—towards the end, we were able to jump inside the boxes to pass out the books! After selecting their winter coats, families and kids were invited to request their free books, attend our Read-alouds, and give a hug to the penguin mascot that roamed the event. The kids were so excited, and rushed over to the bins to pick out their favorite books. I loved getting to hear about their favorite things to read.

The Read-alouds were my favorite because the books we read were exciting and silly, and the kids were enraptured. Since new people were constantly coming to our stand, a book that I started reading with just a few people would finish with a much bigger audience. At some point, even the penguin joined in the listen!

I’m so grateful I was able to help out with the Coats for Kids event alongside my mom and my Bookspring family. At the end of the day, all of the boxes of books were completely empty! This means that hundreds of books found a loving home with the amazing kids I got to meet that day.
